This series consists of records pertaining to U.S. Army medical operations in the European Theater of Operations (ETO) during World War II. There are photographs of medical personnel, field hospitals, vehicles, wounded soldiers, inmates of the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp receiving care, and other medical-related subjects. There are several photographs of the U.S. Embassy in London, and of Generals George S. Patton and Dwight D. Eisenhower visiting hospitals. Among the maps is a detailed plan of the city and harbor of Cherbourg, France.

George Smith Patton Jr. (November 11, 1885 – December 21, 1945) was a general of the United States Army who commanded the Seventh United States Army in the Mediterranean theater of World War II, and the United States Army Central in France and Germany after the Allied invasion of Normandy in June 1944.
